Abstract

218,956. Chatwood Safe Co., Ltd., and Morris, A. J. March 27, 1924. Keys.-In a safe key in which the long shank is detachable and replaceable by a shorter one for convenience of carrying, the shank part and bit part are connected by a claw coupling and secured by a screw passing down the shank and engaging a tapped hole in the bit part. The bit part a carrying the bit b has a pair of diametrically opposite tongues engaging corresponding recesses in the end of the shank c so that when the screw e is tightened up, the key can be manipulated as a rigid whole. For disconnecting the shank c, the screw e is loosened until it is clear of the part a. A smaller shank f having a screw g may then be attached for carrying the key on a key ring.
