Flexible-band files; clamping-devices; covers.- In a loose-leaf binder of the kind having thongs tightened by screw mechanism mounted in one of the covers, the stresses set up by the tightening operation are localized in a bar fixed to the inner edge of one of the covers. The bar a comprises a metal strip of trough section slotted to carry thongs b, the sides of the centre portion of the strip being bent inwardly to form a socket g, which supports one end of the screw e, and the bottom of the trough being formed with an aperture i through which a key is inserted to engage and rotate the screw e. The threads of the latter engage in oblique slots formed in two strips d constituting a crossbar to which the ends of the thongs are attached, the screw being in compression while tightening the thongs. The cover m comprises a sheet of cardboard having a recess n divided into three portions by strips p, and may be enclosed in canvas, leather, &c.
