Feedwater, controlling.-The feed supply to a locomotive or like boiler is regulated in accordance with the position of the engine valve-gear as described in the parent Specification, and in addition is regulated independently of the valve-gear in accordance with the demand at anv time. The quantity of water delivered by a feed-pump 2 is controlled by a three-way valve 4, which is connected to the engine valve-gear and which allows part of the water delivered by the pump to return to the feed-tank 7, and by a hand-operated valve 6 in the suction pipe 1. The hand-operated valve may be placed in the delivery pipe 3 or in the return pipe 5.
