Rail joints.-Rolled fishplates A have a web member D subnormally thinned at intervals and having an upper rail-engaging part B overhanging the web D. This thinning may be produced by removing metal or pressing it into other parts of the fishplate. The cavities 1 leave a width of web y and so produce ribs 2 having a normal width x. Fig. 4 shows a modified form of cavities and ribs.
