Abstract

218,036. Carter, R. April 14, 1923. Rotary strainers for paper pulp are built up of rings or hoops b supported by rods c and clamped between end dises d, so as to form straining slits which extend round the strainer. The rings b may be spaced by collars on the rods c, which may pass through lugs on the rings ; or distance pieces may be formed on the rings themselves, or the rings may lie in notches in the rods. For an outward-flow strainer the rings are so formed that the slits taper inwards : for an inward-flow strainer they taper outwards. The rings may be in segments joined together, and two or more may be joined together at intervals by connecting means within the strainer. The strainer may be kept clear by means of water jets, and mechanical clearing-means may be provided. Such means may comprise thin metal blades h on a rod g supported on brackets f. The blades may enter the slits between the rings under gravity, or the rod g may be turned by a cam disc on the end of the strainer.
