Abstract

A clutch actuator is provided between a release bearing (28) for a clutch (10) and a clutch operating means so that, even when a facing (20) of the clutch is worn, the stroke of a piston (60) in an air pressure responsive means (56) does not substantially vary. This clutch actuator is provided with first and second pistons (44), (48) which are set in a cylinder in such a manner that these pistons can be moved slidingly and reciprocatingly as they are spaced from each other. The first piston (44) is connected to the release bearing (28) for the clutch so that the clutch can be disengaged or engaged by the reciprocating displacement of the same piston. The second piston (48) is provided so as to be displaced reciprocatingly in accordance with the movement of the clutch operating means. A work oil chamber (46) defined by the first and second pistons (44), (48) and the circumferential wall of an oil cylinder (40) is filled with a work oil. The circumferential wall of the oil cylinder (40) is provided with a refueling port (52), which is communicated with the work oil chamber (46) while the clutch operating means is not in operation, and which stops being communicated therewith due to the reciprocating displacement of the second piston while the clutch operating means is in operation. An oil reservoir (54) used to store the work oil in the work oil chamber (46) via this refueling port and adapted to recover the work oil overflowing the work oil chamber (46) is joined to the oil cylinder (40).
