Abstract

A clip for receiving tubing such as central heating piping, the clip having at least one member (1) with two arms (2) extending from a base (3), the arms (2) defining between them a part-circular inner surface (4) of the clip in which the tube can nest. The outside of the clip has opposed, outwardly facing, part- circular grooves (7) to receive corresponding ribs (9) of a channel- shaped cover (8) so that the cover can be fitted on the clip to conceal the tubing received thereby. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A clip for tubing and a cover associated therewith This invention relates to a clip for tubing and a cover associated therewith.
According to the present invention, there is provided a clip comprising means to enable it to be secured to a wall or the like, a member to receive and embrace a tube and opposed, outwardly-facing grooves on the outside of the clip to receive respective parts of a cover which can be fitted about the clip to conceal the tube.
Preferably, the clip includes two of said members arranged to receive respective tubes side-by-side.
The or each said member may be shaped so that the or each tube is received with a snap fit in the clip.
Said means to enable the clip to be secured to a wall or the like may be in the form of a countersunk hole or slot formed in a base of the clip to one side of the or each said member.
The or each said member may be formed as two arms extending from the base of the clip and defining between them a part-circular inner surface in which the tube can nest.
The grooves on the outside of the clip may extend parallel to the intended direction of run of the or each pipe passing through the clip and may be part-circular in order to receive corresponding part-circular, longitudinally-extending ribs on the cover.
The cover may be channel-shaped, the ribs being on opposed inside faces of the channel and positioned adjacent the respective outside longitudinal edges of the cover.
For a better understanding of the invention and to show how the same may be carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawing, in which:~ Figure 1 is a perspective view of a clip according to the invention, and Figure 2 is a perspective view of a cover which can be fitted about the clip and tubing received in it.
Fig. 1 shows a clip with two members 1 each adapted to receive with a snap fit and embrace a respective tube such as a central heating pipe. Each member 1 has two arms 2 extending from a flat base 3, respective pairs of arms 2 defining between them a part-circular inner surface 4 of the clip in which the tube can nest.
The base 3 is extended on one side to provide means 5 to enable the clip to be secured to a wall or the like, the means 5 being in the form of a lug provided with a countersunk hole or slot 6.
The outside of the clip is provided with opposed, outwardly facing, part-circular grooves 7 to receive respective parts of a cover 8 which can be fitted about the clip to conceal the tubing received thereby.
The cover 8 is of generally channel-shape having a width substantially corresponding to the width of the clip and a depth sufficient for ribs 9 to pass over the outsides of the members 1 of the clip to be snapped into the respective grooves 7. In this condition, the base of the cover 8 will lie adjacent the tips of the arms 2 and the cover 8 will lie parallel to the tubing so as to conceal it and the clip.
The clip may be moulded from a plastics material and the cover may be of an extruded plastics material of indefinite length. Preferably, the cover is of such a length that it can embrace and cover at least two spaced-apart clips and associated tubing.
1. A clip comprising means to enable it to be secured to a wall or the like, a member to receive and embrace a tube and opposed, outwardly-facing grooves on the outside of the clip to receive respective parts of a cover which can be fitted about the clip to conceal the tube.
2. A clip according to claim 1 and comprising two of said members arranged to receive respective tubes side-by-side.
3. A tube according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the or each said member is shaped so that the or each tube is received with a snap-fit in the clip.
4. A clip according to claim 1, 2 or 3, wherein said means to enable the clip to be secured to a wall or the like is in the form of a countersunk hole or slot formed in a base of the clip to one side of the or each said member.
5. A clip according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the or each said member is formed as two arms extending from a base of the clip and defining between them a part-circular inner surface in which the tube can nest.
6. A clip according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said outwardly-facing grooves extend parallel to the intended direction of run of the or each or each pipe passing through the clip and are part-circular in order to receive corresponding part-circular, longitudinally-extending ribs on the cover.
7. A clip according to any one of the preceding claims and a said cover, said cover being channel-shaped and having ribs on opposed inside faces of the channel positioned adjacent the respective outside longitudinal edges of the cover.
8. A clip, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
9. A clip with cover according to claim 7, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
