Abstract

1403714 Clips P E KEYSER 23 Aug 1972 [25 May 1971 12 June 1971] 17052/71 and 27619/71 Heading E2A [Also in Division F2] A pipe assembly comprises an extended run of pipe and a plurality of retaining devices each of which is of integral construction and is securable to a support and has at least one recess for positively retaining the pipe by snap action, an elongated cover member snap engages the retaining devices, as shown in Fig. 1 the retaining device 12, of metal or plastics, has two recesses 22 for the pipes 14 and recesses 26, the cover 28 has inwardly projecting portion 30 which snap engage in the recesses 26. A bore 20 is provided for a nail or screw for securing to a wall or the like support. The cover may be integral with a cap which snap engages inturned end portions of the device or the cap may be separate (Fig. 6, not shown). Two devices may be combined by an integral or separate connecting member which snap engages in aligned recesses in the adjacent devices (Figs. 5, 9 not shown). A recess 22 may have inwardly projecting lugs to secure a pipe having a smaller diameter than that of the pipe. As shown in Fig. 13, the pipes 164 are supported by the devices 50, one of which has a U-shaped spacer 174 fitting over it at one end of the cover and at the other end the pipes pass through recesses in a two part closure plug 160 with end flanges 162a, 163a. The plug is secured to the cover by a covered screw 166, and a screw 172 passes through the spacer, retaining device and the cover into a well. The openings of the recesses may be variously positioned in the body. The pipes may be used in a central heating system when the cover may be ventilated.
