Abstract

217,368. Briggs, L. R. April 7, 1923. Wrench handles. - A box spanner 5 or other tool to be operated in an inaccessible position is fitted with a disconnectible handle in the form of a flexible shaft which can be rotated by a handle such as a tommy bar 7 which is passed through a hole in the end 6 of the flexible shaft. The sections of the flexible shaft are formed with sockets 1 and projections 2 pivoted therein by pins 3, the adjacent pins being disposed in planes at right angles to one another, or inclined at other angles. A flexible covering such as a wire coil 8, or a leather, or fabric tube, is applied to the flexible shaft. The shaft may be formed of only one universal joint, and may be connected to a long straight handle member with a T operating-handle.
