Abstract
A unit type curtain wall assembly has an array of standardized horizontally adjoining curtain wall units Aa, Ab, each having a fluid flow passageways 140, 16 extending through its side frame members 1a, 1b. For sealing a gap between the opposed side frame members 1a, 1b of the or each pair of horizontally adjoining curtain wall units Aa, Ab so as to minimize the loss of heat energy, an indoor sealing band (41) and a first outdoor sealing band 30 are connected between the opposed side frame members 1a, 1b to close the indoor and outdoor sides of the gap therebetween. A second outdoor sealing band 39 is connected exteriorly of the first outdoor sealing band 30 to provide another closed space therebetween so as to prevent heat transmission from the outside. The three sealing bands 30, 39, 41 with the two intervening closed spaces constitute in combination an effective heat insulator. The first hollow portion 140 is used as a passage through which air flows, while the second hollow portion 16 is used as a passage through which heat transfer medium flows. <IMAGE>
