Plastic compositions containing glue etc.; fibrous plastic compositions. - A quick-setting mouldable composition consists of animal or vegetable glue, formaldehyde, a filler such as kaolin or asbestos, and an alkaline earth as magnesium, calcium, or barium oxide or peroxide, or a weak alkali. As an example, two mixtures are made containing respectively 60 parts by weight of filler, 10 parts of magnesium, oxide or the like, 20 parts of liquid glue, 10 parts of water, and 20 parts of filler, 5 parts of glue, 5 parts of 10 per cent formaldehyde solution. These compositions are mixed in equal parts immediately before use. An excess of alkaline earth &c. or formaldehyde increases the rate of setting. Specifications 216,951 and 216,953 are referred to.
