Abstract

Roasting granular substances.- An apparatus for roasting coffee or the like comprises a cylindrical compartment i the bottom of which is directly heated by an electric heating element h, the compartment also being provided with stirring blades e L-shaped in cross-section and the front edges of which are inclined towards the material to be moved. The blades e and the heating element h are mounted on a motor driven shaft d and a heat-insulating plate g respectively. Fan blades may be mounted on the part of the shaft d which lies within the frame f supporting the roasting compartment. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the stirring blades may be S-shaped or triangular in cross-section. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
