Abstract

A door 1 for the baking and roasting compartment of an oven comprises an inner door member 2 with an observation window 3 and an outer door member formed by a pane of glass 5 which is detachably connected to the inner door member 2 by a detent connection. A bar-type handle 13 is fitted to the door member 2 for the operation of the door. The front pane of glass 5 is, on the one hand, held in an insertion groove 15, formed in the bar-type handle 13, under the pressure of a spring element 16 accommodated there and, on the other hand, is pressed with a detent member 6 secured to the pane 5 into the detent notch 11 provided at the edge 9 of the inner door member 2. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A door for the baking and roasting compartment of an oven The invention relates to a door for the baking and roasting compartment of an oven comprising an inner door member with an observation window, an outer door member comprising a pane of glass which is detachably connected to the inner door member by a detent connection and a bar handle on the door to open and close the door.
A door of this type is known from the DE OS 32 38 441. In the case of this door, a detent element is fitted to the inside of the front pane of glass and can engage in a snap recess in the lower retaining strip of the inner door member. Thus the possibility is afforded of the front pane of glass being detachably or interchangeably connected to the inner door member.
The invention seeks to further simplify the snap or detent connection of the front pane of glass to the inner door member of the baking and roasting compartment door, in construction, and above all to facilitate the release of the snap or detent connection and hence the removal of the door.
According to the invention, there is provided a door for the baking and roasting compartment of an oven comprising an inner door member with an observation window, an outer door member comprising a pane of glass which is detachably connection to the inner door member by a detent connected and a bar handle on the door to open and close the door, wherein the front pane of glass of the outer door member is, on the one hand, held in an insertion groove formed in the bar handle, under the pressure of a spring element accommodated there and, on the other hand, pressed with a detent member secured to pane of glass into a notch provided in the edge of the inner door member.
As a result of the measures proposed, a particularly simple mounting and dismounting of the removable front pane of glass for the baking and roasting compartment door is enabled, which can be carried out effortlessly by a housewife.
The invention will now be described in greater detail, by way of example, with reference to the drawing, the single Figure of which shows an oven door in accordance with the invention, in section.
The oven door 1 as shown in the drawing comprises essentially a frame-like inner sheetmetal door member 2 with a window opening 4 covered by an observation window 3 and an outer door member comprising all-glass pane 5. Fitted to the inside of the all-glass pane 5, which is adjacent to the sheet-metal door member 2, are angle members 6 or the like. These angle members are secured, one at the left and one at the right, in the lower region of the door, by means of an adhesive 7. The mounting side of the angle member 6 has spacing elements 8, 8' which always ensure the same distance between the angle member 6 and the inside of the all-glass pane 5.The angle members 6 are each provided, at their side adjacent to the edge or frame 9 of the sheet-metal door member 2, with a rounded slip-in extension 1 0. A corresponding insertion opening 11 is formed in the edge or the frame 9 of the sheet-metal door member 2 to receive the slip-in extension 1 0. The angle member 6 further comprises a supporting bend 1 2 engaging under the edge of the all-glass pane 5.
Fitted to the upper edge 9' of the sheetmetal door member 2 is a continuous bar-type handle 1 3 which comprises plastics material which has gripping hollow 1 4 which extends outwards beyond the all-glass pane 5. Formed in the bar-type handle 1 3 is a groove 1 5 which serves as an upper holding means for the all-glass pane 5. Preferably two curved leaf springs 1 6 are inserted in the groove 1 5.
These leaf springs 1 6 urge the all-glass pane 5 introduced into the groove 1 5 downwards (as considered with respect to the groove) and, as a result, secure the angle members 6, fixed to the inside of the all-glass pane 5, with their slip-in extensions 10 in the corresponding insertion openings 11 in the edge 9 of the inner sheet-metal door member 2.
The mounting of the detachable all-glass pane on the inner sheet-metal door member 2 is effected in such a manner that the all-glass pane 5 is first introduced into the groove 1 5 in the bar-type handle 1 3 and, by the lifting of the pane 5, the curved leaf springs 1 6 accommodated there are compressed to such an extent that the angle members 6 can engage with their slip-in extensions 10 in the insertion openings 11. With the engagement of the slip in extensions 10 of the all-glass pane 5, a relaxation of the compressed leaf springs 6 occurs, as a result of which the allglass pane 5 is located securely in its detent position.

A door for the baking and roasting compartment of an oven comprising an inner door member with an observation window, an outer door member comprising a pane of glass which is detachably connected to the inner door member by a detent connection and a bar handle on the door to open and close the door, wherein the front pane of glass of the outer door member is, on the one hand, held in an insertion groove formed in the bar handle, under the pressure of a spring element accommodated there and, on the other hand, pressed with a detent member secured to pane of glass into a notch provided
