Abstract

Apparatus for neutralizing acidified water by means of limestone or a similar basic material. It provides an apparatus which can be used for increasing the pH-value of water coming from wells or the like and feeding just one or a few households. According to the invention there is in the water supply system interconnected an apparatus having a fluidization chamber (6) for solid basic particles the size of which is within the approximate interval 1-10 mms. The water enters the chamber at the lower part thereof and flows upwards. The cross-section area of the chamber increases in the flow direction so that the heaviest particles will float near the bottom and lighter particles at higher levels. A funnel-shaped storage chamber (7) is located above the fluidization chamber and does successively replace consumed material.
