Abstract

A card album display sheet has a series of parallel slits (11') to hold a folded card near its fold line and two other series of slits (12', 14' or 16, 17) to hold the card corners. A folded card may thus be held to show both outer and inner faces of the card. Alternatively, one side of the folded card may be tucked between the face leaf and an underleaf of the display sheet. Two cards may be accommodated on both faces of the display sheet. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in or relating to display sheets for albums Description ofthe invention This invention relates to display sheets for albums, particularly to album sheets for holding and displaying folded cards, such as greetings cards.
The object of the invention is to provide a display sheet, suitable for the pages of an album, capable of retaining and displaying cards, particularly folded cards, of a variety of different sizes and with alternative modes of display.
Accordingly, the invention provides a display sheet comprising a face leaf and an under leaf, said face leaf having a plurality of spaced-apart parallel first slits or slots, and two spaced areas each having a plurality of spaced-apart parallel second slits or slots, said second slits extending in a direction angled both to said first slits and to said second slits of the other spaced area.
The particular purpose of the first slits is to hold a folded card near to its fold line. The purpose of the second slits is to hold two corners of the card. A folded card may thus be held and displayed either with one folded side free and above the display sheet or with one side held between the face leaf and the underleaf of the display sheet.
A particularly convenient construction of display sheet has face leaves front and back with a single intermediate inner leaf. Both faces leaves are slitted, or slotted, to receive cards.
A preferred construction of display sheet has two face leaves and an intermediate inner leaf as last above-mentioned. Both face leaves are slitted, or slotted. Both face leaves have two combinations of the first and second series of slits, or slots. This permits of two folded cards being held and displayed on both face leaves, Alternatively, the first slits, or slots, of one combination may be used together with the second slits, or slots, of the other combination, to accommodate a card of extra large size on each face of the display sheet.
Short description ofthe drawings One embodiment of the invention will now be described in detail, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figures 1, 2 and 3 show a display sheet according to the invention, having two face leaves and an intermediate inner leaf; Figure 1 shows one face leaf of the display sheet, showing the series of slits, or slots; Figure 2 shows the same face leaf, with two folded greetings cards mounted; and Figure 3 is a section view of the display sheet of Figure 1, showing the three-leaf construction thereof.
Description ofthe embodiment The accompanying drawings show a display sheet generally referenced 1.
Figure 3 shows the three-leaf construction of the display sheet 1. As there shown, the display sheet 1 comprises a front face leaf 2, a rear face leaf 3 and an intermediate inner leaf 4.
Figure 1 shows, at broken line 10, the boundary of a marginal area 10' in which each face leaf 2 or 3 is secured by adhesive to the inner leaf 4. Thus, in the marginal area 10', all three leaves 2,3 and 4 are bonded together. In the central area 10", the three leaves are not bonded together and can be separated one from another.
Figure 1 also shows, at 11, 12 and 14, a first combination of slits, or slots, and at 15,16 and 17, a second such combination. These may comprise merely slits, that is incisions through the face leaf 2, or very narrow strips of the face leaf material may be removed to form slots. For simplicity in the present description, they will be called slits.
The slits 11, six in number as shown, are parallel spaced-apart slits, all parallel to the edge 13 of the display sheet 1. The slits 12 and 14, also six in number as shown, are angled to each other and to the slits 11.
In the second combination of slits 15, 16 and 17, the slits 15, four in number as shown, are also parallel to the edge 13 of the display sheet 1. The slits 16 and 17, seven in number as shown, are angled to each other and to the slits 15 but, respectively, parallel to the slits 12 and 14.
Corresponding slits are provided in the back face leaf 3, so that, in this example, the two face leaves 2 and 3 are identically slitted. None of the slits of either face leaf extends through the intermediate leaf 4.
Figure 2 shows two folded greetings cards 18 and 19 mounted and displayed in the sheet 1 and illustrates two alternative modes of mounting. The card 18 has its back passed through adjacent slits 11, so that the portion 11' of the face leaf 2 holds the card near to its fold line. The back corners of the card are held in slits 12' and 14', respectively. The front of the card 18 is held freely, above the face leaf 2. The card 19 has its back passed through one of the slits 15, so that the back is held between the face leaf 2 and the inner leaf 4. The front corners of the card 19 are held by the slits 16 and 17.
A further mode of mounting folded cards, not shown in the drawings, may be used for extra large or extra wide cards. The back of the card is passed through one of the slits 11 and the corners are held by the slits 16 and 17. Either the card may be mounted, as is the card 18 of Figure 2, with the front free and the back corners held, or the card may be mounted, as is the card 19 of Figure 2, with the back between the leaves 2 and 4, extending from one of the slits 11, and with the front corners held.
A required number of display sheets would be assembled together and bound, or loose-leaf mounted, along their edges 13, together with covers, to form an album of the required size.
1. A display sheet comprising a face leaf and an under leaf, said face leaf having a plurality of spaced-apart, parallel first slits, or slots, and two spaced areas each having a plurality of spaced-apart, parallel second slits, or slots, said second slits
