214,572. Appareils et Evaporateurs Kestner. April 17, 1923, [Convention date]. Separate heater and evaporator apparatus.-A hot saturated saline solution is evaporated to produce crystallization by reducing the pressure upon it, and the steam evolved is utilized for preheating the solution to be crystallized. The evaporation is effected in stages at gradually reduced pressures. Hot solution from a tank a is passed in series through evaporating-vessels z - - m evacuated through separate connections by an air pump s. The vessels are discharged through barometric tubes into reservoirs t - - x into which dip tubes through which liquid is fed to the succeeding vessel. The vapours pass through tubular preheaters n - - r through which the solution to be crystallized is passed in series.
