Abstract

The manikin comprises a combined head and body portion 2, a pair of two-part arm portions 3, a pair of two-part leg portions 4, and a pair of feet portions 5, the arm and leg portions being pivotally connected to the portion 2 by points 10, 11 respectively. The two parts (3a, 3b) of each arm portion 3 and the parts (4a, 4b) of each leg to portion 4 are also pivotally interconnected by joints 12, 13 respectively. The manikin is of pine and the portions 2, 3, 4, 5 are flat-surfaced. The joints 10, 11, 12, 13, which are formed by coach bolts and washers, are sufficiently "stiff" to allow the manikin 1, once placed in a particular attitude, to remain in that attitude so that, in different attitudes, it may serve as a tray carrier, magazine rack, record holder, stand or table (Figs. 6-13). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in or relating to manikins BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION This invention relates to manikins and provides a manikin which can be made to serve, inter alia, as a table, a plant stand and a record holder.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to the invention, a manikin com prises:- a) a head and body portion, b) two-part arm portions, c) two-part leg portions, and d) feet portions, with the arm and leg portions pivotally connected to the head and body portions, the two parts of each arm portion pivotally interconnected, and the two parts of each leg portion also being pivotally interconnected.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS An embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a front view of a manikin, Figure 2 is a side view thereof, Figure 3 is a plan view of the manikin, Figure 4 is an inverted plan view thereof, Figure 5 is a view in perspective, with the arm portions bent, and Figures 6 to 13 are views in perspective which illustrate various attitudes which the manikin can be made to assume.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRE FERRED EMBODIMENT With reference first to Figs. 1 to 5, a manikin 1 of articulated form comprises: a) a head and body portion 2, b) two-part arm portions 3, c) two-part leg portions 4, and d) feet portions 5.
The arm and leg portions 3, 4 are pivotally connected to the head and body portion 2 by joints 10, 11 respectively. The two parts (3a, 3b) of each arm portion 3 are pivotally interconnected by joints 1 2. The two parts (4a, 4b) of each leg portion 4 are pivotally interconnected by joints 1 3.
The manikin 1 is of pine. The joints 10, 11, 12, 13, which are formed by coach bolts and washers, are sufficiently "stiff" to allow the manikin 1, once placed in a particular attitude, (see Figs. 6 to 13), to remain in that attitude.
The head/body, arm, leg and feet portions 2, 3, 4, 5 are flat-surfaced. The feet portions 5 are made large so as to provide a stable platform for the remainder of the manikin 1.
All the components are sized so as to enable the manikin 1 to assume the attitudes illustrated by Figs. 6 to 1 3.
The manikin 1 may be made of any suitable size. However, preferred dimensions are as follows:- Height "H" . .710 mm Breadth "B,' .. 255 mm Width "W' ...210 mm Thickness "T" ... 35 mm Figs. 6 to 1 3 illustrate some of the attitudes the manikin 1 can be made to assume.
Fig. 6 - tray carrier Fig. 7 - magazine rack Fig. 8 - telephone table Fig. 9 - two-step table Fig. 10 - end-table Fig. 11 - plant stand Fig. 1 2 - record holder Fig. 1 3 - occasional table The portions 2, 3, 4, 5 are formed so as to provide the manikin 1 with good balance, regardless of attitude assumed.

A manikin comprising: a) a head and body portion, b) two-part arm portions, c) two-part leg portions, and d) feet portions with the arm and leg portions pivotally connected to the head and body portions, the two parts of each arm portion pivotally interconnected, and the two parts of each leg portion also being pivotally interconnected.
2. A manikin comprising: a) a head and body portion, b) two-part arm portions, c) two-part leg portions, and d) feet portions, with the arm and leg portions pivotally connected to the head and body portions, the two parts of each arm portion pivotally interconnected, and the two parts of each leg portion also being pivotally interconnected, the pivotal connections being sufficiently stiff to allow the manikin, once placed in a particular position, to remain in that attitude.
3. A manikin as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, wherein the said portions are flat-surfaced.
4. A manikin as claimed in Claim 1, 2 or 3, constructed from wood.
5. A manikin, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
