A means for retaining a duvet on a mattress comprises a fabric pocket formed from a top 1, a bottom 2 and a side and end strip 3. The open mouth 4 has elasticated sides 6 and receives a mattress and duvet, the corners of the latter being drawn through slots 5 provided at the closed end. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in bedding This invention relates to improvements in bedding and is particularly concerned with a covering for a bed which serves to retain a duvet thereon.
According to this invention there is provided a means for retaining a duvet on a bed comprising a fabric pocket with an elongate open end adapted to receive an end of a mattress including the end of a duvet lying thereon, the other opposed end of the pocket including two spaced apertures through which the corners of the duvet may be drawn so as to project therefrom, the open end having an elasticated portion at each side to hold the pocket on the mattress.
Such means according to the invention may be easily slipped over the end of the mattress and duvet and serves to retain same at the bottom of the bed to prevent the duvet slipping off.
The device may be made in various sizes according to the width of the bed and/or thickness of the mattress.
One embodiment according to the invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings wherein Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the device looking in to the open end of the pocket into which the mattress and duvet are inserted, Figure 2 is a fragmentary view looking in the direction of arrow A of Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a fragmentary view looking in the direction of arrow B of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings, the means is of a fabric material and is formed from two rectangular pieces of fabric comprising the top 1 and bottom 2 which are stitched along three sides to an elongate strip of material 3 forming the two sides and closed end.
Thus, an elongate box-like pocket structure is formed which has an open rectangular elongate end 4.
The dimensions of the means are such that in use the end of a mattress together with the end of a duvet lying thereon may be inserted into the open end4and pulled up so asto be a snug fit thereover.
At the other end of the means opposite the open end and on the normally upper surface two slots 5 are provided one at each side to enable the corners of the duvetto be partially drawn therethrough so as to secure same. The two narrow sides of the open mouth include a sewn in pocket 6 which contains an elasticated material so as to securely hold the end of the means around the bed and duvet.
The means is of simple construction and easy to manufacture and enables a duvetto be retained on a bed without ties or other fixtures.
1. A means for retaining a duvet on a bed comprising a fabric pocket with an elongate open end adapted to receive an end of a mattress including the end of a duvet lying thereon, the other opposed end of the pocket including two spaced apertures through which the corners of the duvet may be drawn so as to project therefrom, the open end having an elasticated portion at each side to hold the pocket on the mattress.
2. A means in accordance with Claim 1, wherein the pocket is made-up from two panels of fabric forming the top and bottom with a continuous strip forming the sides and the closed end.
3. A means in accordance with Claim 1 or 2, wherein the apertures are provided adjacent opposed corners at the end of the pocket.
4. A means in accordance with Claim 3, wherein the apertures are provided along the juncture between the normally upper surface and the opposed end of the pocket.
5. A means for retaining a duvet on a bed substantially as described and shown in the accompanying drawings.
