Abstract

214,344. Cowles, E., and Electric Smelting & Aluminum Co. Jan. 23, 1923. Cleansing - compositions. - Materials that solidify with evolution of heat, e.g. the detergents described in Specification 200,175, are solidified rapidly and in a form readily powdered by forming a layer on a cooling surface, and removing it while still viscous to form a layer on a travelling band exposed to the atmosphere. In the apparatus shown the liquid is fed from a reservoir A to a bank B open on one side to a drum C cooled by brine at about 20‹ F. and making about 3 revolutions per minute. The layer when of about the consistency of molasses is removed bv a scraper D on to a travelling belt E from which it breaks and falls into a receiver R. The belt is preferably formed into a trough by using concave supporting pulleys e<2> .. e<6>.
