Abstract

A blocking device for an existing lock, eg a domestic door lock, comprises a movable pin 3 to block the bolt of the lock operated by means of a "push-on"/"push- off" latching device containing a coding manipulator 4, a set of contacts for switching on an alarm system and an illumination unit, if required. The whole device is encased for protection. In use the door is locked in the usual way using a door key; using a push-on button of the latching device the cylindrical locking pin is introduced into the lock bolt. This is followed by setting the lock coding system which is dialled by means of two knobs. Before the door can be opened again a known code must be dialled first and the cylindrical locking pin must be lifted to such a height as to unblock the lock bolt. This is done by a means of a "push-off" button; only then can the door be opened with the door key. Dialling a wrong code will raise an alarm. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION System of pin blockade of the bolt in the lock. Device for blocking all kinds of locks and latches The invention relates to two devices independent of each other which make it impossible for locks or latches to be opened by any means whatsoever by a third party, thanks to the use in them of special pins which block the bolts of locks or latches. Each of these devices is installed independently, something that does not restrict the choice of their application: just one or both can be used.
The enclosed drawing shows the method of mounting and positioning of the devices.
Figure 1 shows a door cross-section with a lock and two devices Figure 2 shows a device from the outside Figure 3 shows a door with a device from the inside Figure 4 shows a door cross-section without a lock, with a latch and two devices Door locks which have been in use up to now have never given full guarantee as to their effectiveness, a full protection against break-ins. In view of this, users who were at home and wanted to protect themselves from this possibility used all kinds of bolts on the inside of the door, larger of smaller ones whose effectiveness, on account of their construction, is frequently minimal; whereas massive bolts, apart from their unaesthetic appearance, are not suitable for use by elderly peo- ple or children since considerable effort is involved both in drawing and withdrawing them. Moreover, the user is not always able to see whether the bolt has been drawn.
It must be said, however, that bolts have given and still give a sense of safety for those at home and testify to the fact that the user does not trust the locks he possesses, be they even the best.
If this argument is unambiguous, it becomes clear that if one leaves the house without drawing the bolt in question on the outside of the door (since this is illogical), locking up the house by means of any lock whatsoever, even the best, is problematic and does not guarantee full protection against a break-in. This applies to main doors or any other openings equipped with a lock or latch.
It is true that the only way out of this situation is an electronic alarm system. Not everyone, however, can afford it, and besides there can never be too many precautionary devices.
The objective of this invention is to apply the above mentioned devices to the existing locks which will replace door bolts inside by means of a pin blockade of the bolt in the lock and to apply different devices on the outside of door locks also by means of a pin blockade.
Device no.1 is for use on a lock or latch on the outside of the door (1) to which the invention relates. The essence of the invention is the mounting on any lock or latch on the outside of the door of a device which is equipped with the system of pin blockade of the bolt and a code mechanism that can be set and is lit up. Thus, the device consists of a pin which blocks the bolt of the lock or latch (3) and of an encased mechanism for setting it with a code system which is lit up (4). The whole is fixed to the outside of the door. (7).
The code mechanism consists, among other things, of two external devices. The first, a setting device (5). On this device the functioning of the second setting device (6) and its lighting up depend. Code combinations can be arranged at will. The application of the device (1): to block from the outside all existing locks and latches. The low cost of producing the device will make it possible for it to be used widely.
Device no 2 for a lock or latch on the inside of a door (2), where pin blockade, to which the invention relates, is used. The essence of the invention is the installation of any lock or latch on the inside of the door of a device equipped with the system of pin blockade of the bolt or latch. The device consists of a pin which blocks the bolt of a lock or latch (8) and a mechanism for inserting the pin blocking the bolt (9) and withdrawing it from the bolt of the lock (9). The mechanism is lit up.
All is encased and fixed to the door from the inside (10).- Thus, apart from providing a total blockade of the lock or latch, which cannot be opened from the outside, the device shows the blockade by its lighting up mechanism, thus being visible in the dark. Application: all existing locks and latches which are opened from the inside. The small production cost of this device in varying sizes will solve this problem in a clear and aesthetic way, thereby increasing safety.
1. An independent device no 1 for a lock or latch mounted on the outside of the door (1) characterized in that it is equipped with a system of pin blockade of the bolt in a lock or latch (3).
2. An independent device no 1 characterized in that it is equipped with a setting code system (4) which is lit up.
3. An independent device no 2 for a lock or latch mounted on the inside of the door (2) characterized in that it is equipped with a system of pin blockade of the bolt of a lock or latch (8). The independent device no 2 is characterized in that the insertion of the pin blockade into the lock or latch (8) is shown by a lighting up mechanism.
4. The independent device no 1 and no 2 characterized in that they can function together with any electronic alarm system.
