In examples wheat bran is treated first with chlorine water, the product dried and treated with bromine solution; wheat flour is treated with chlorine water and then with iodine solution; and eggyolk and oatmeal first with bromine water and then with iodine. In all cases the halogenation is carried out substantially at ordinary temperatures.
