Abstract
The side movements of a travelling web are corrected by a reversible motor (1) with a hollow rotor (2) having a nut (11) secured thereto and a screw shaft (7) being threaded to the nut (11). The screw shaft (7) is mounted at one or both ends in a fixed support. When side movement of a travelling web is detected, the reversible motor (1) is actuated to rotate the nut (11), thereby to move the motor (1) along the shaft (7) and thus operate a web movement correcting member (15) attached to the nut (11) or the motor housing (1). The correcting member (15) may be a tenter arm or it may act on a thin steel sheet fabric or paper. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web sidemovement correcting apparatus.
There is conventionally known a device for controlling a correcting operation of the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus in which a nut into which a screw shaft is threadedly inserted, is moved on the screw shaft longitudinally, transversely or vertically, thereby to move longitudinally, transversely or vertically the correcting member attached directly or indirectly to the nut. In such a device, the nut can be moved by rotating the screw shaft or the nut itself by a motor.
In any case, in order to transmit the rotation of the motor to the screw shaft or the nut it is necessary to use transmission members such as a transmission belt and a pulley. It is also necessary to dispose the motor at a position considerably apart from the screw shaft and the nut. Accordingly, the actuating and controlling device is inevitably formed in a large size, requiring a large installation space. Moreover, the use of transmission members such as a transmission belt and a pulley may easily provoke a belt slip and troubles during the operation, so that it is difficult to smoothly move the correcting member. It is therefore required to frequently perform maintenance and checking on the actuating and controlling device. It is also noted that the use of such transmission members disadvantageously generates noise.
The present invention relates to a device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of an apparatus for correcting side-movement of a travelling web such as a fabric, thin steel sheet or paper, and more particularly to improvements in a device for controlling a correcting operation of the correcting member, in which a nut into which a screw shaft is threadedly inserted, is rotated forwardly or reversely to be moved longitudinally, transversely or vertically on the screw shaft by a reversible motor, thereby to move longitudinally, transversely or vertically the correcting member connected directly or indirectly to the nut through a rotary bearing.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus, in which the rotation of a reversible motor is transmitted directly to a nut without the use of transmission members such as a transmission belt and pulley for transmitting the rotation of the motor to the nut, thereby to reduce the size of the actuating and controlling device, which can then be economically installed in a limited space.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus, which can eliminate the use of transmission members such as a transmission belt and a pulley for transmitting the rotation of the motor to the nut, thereby to eliminate the occurrence of a belt slip and troubles during the operation, so that a smooth operation is made with a reduced noise.
In order to achieve the objects above-mentioned, the device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus in accordance with the present invention comprises a reversible motor having a hollow rotary shaft, a screw shaft inserting member including the hollow rotary shaft and a nut secured to at least one end of the hollow rotary shaft, a screw shaft fittingly inserted into the screw shaft inserting member and threadedly connected to the nut, and at least one support to which at least one projecting end of the screw shaft is attached.
According to the device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus of the present invention, the rotation of the reversible motor can be transmitted directly to the nut, so that, even if transmission members such as a transmission belt and a pulley are not used for transmitting the motor rotation to the nut, the screw shaft inserting member can be moved longitudinally, transversely or vertically on the screw shaft, thereby to actuate the correcting member supported directly or indirectly by the screw shaft inserting member through a rotary bearing. Therefore, the device of the present invention can be greatly reduced in size and economically installed in a limited space.
According to the device of the present invention, since the reversible motor is supported by the screw shaft through the screw shaft inserting member, the device can be further reduced in size. Such arrangement completely eliminates the use of transmission members such as a transmission belt and a pulley, so that there is no possibility of the occurrence of a belt slip and troubles during the operation. Thus, a smooth operation can be made with a reduced noise, and necessity for maintenance and checking is considerably reduced.
Figure 1 is a vertical section view of main portions of a device in accordance with the present invention which is used as a tenter arm rotating and controlling device;
Figure 2 is a front view of main portions of a device of the present invention used as a tenter arm rotating and controlling device, illustrating how a screw shaft is mounted;
Figure 3 is a plan view of Fig. 2; and
Figure 4 is a front view of main portions of a device of the present invention used as a tenter arm rotating and controlling device, illustrating another example of how a screw shaft is mounted.
The description hereinafter will discuss in detail an embodiment of the present invention.
The attached drawings illustrate a device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus of the present invention which is used as a device for rotating and controlling the arm of a tenter for automatically correcting side-movement of and expanding a travelling fabric.
This tenter arm rotating and controlling device comprises a reversible motor, a screw shift and a screw shaft inserting member.
The reversible motor 1 has a hollow rotary shaft 2, a rotary bearing 3, a rotor 4 secured to the outer periphery of the hollow rotary shaft 2, a stator 5 outside the rotor 4 and a casing 6.
The screw shaft 7 inserting member 8 comprises the hollow rotary shaft 2 and a nut 11 which is a ball nut coaxially secured to one end of the shaft 2 with a screw 9 and having a circulating path 10 for a plurality of friction reducing balls to be discussed later.
The screw shaft 7 having a length longer than that of the screw shaft inserting member 8 is inserted into the screw shaft inserting member 8 and threadedly connected to the nut 11 through a plurality of friction reducing balls 1 2 put in a spiral groove formed between the nut 11 and the screw shaft 7. In the embodiment as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the screw shaft 7 is supported at the both projecting ends thereof by supports 1 3.
In the embodiment, the actuating and controlling device of the present invention constructed as above-mentioned is applied as a tenter arm rotating and controlling device with the tip lower surface of a tenter arm 1 5 rotatably supported by rotary bearings 14 on the outer peripheral surface of the motor casing 6.
The description hereinafter will discuss the operational effects of the device of the present invention applied as a tenter arm rotating and controlling device.
When side-movement of a travelling fabric (not shown) is detected and the rotor 4 of the reversible motor 1 energized by the detector signal is then rotated in such forward or reverse direction as to correct the fabric sidemovement, the screw shaft inserting member 8 is also rotated and moved in either left or right direction on the screw shaft 7. The tenter arm 1 5 pivoted to the motor casing 6 is accordingly rotated in either left or right direction, thereby to correct the fabric sidemovement.
In the embodiment above-mentioned, the motor 1 is supported by the screw shaft 7 through the hollow rotary shaft 2 and the nut 11. Thus, the device of the present invention can be considerably reduced in size, as compared with a conventional tenter arm rotating and controlling device in which the motor is considerably separated from the screw shaft and the nut. The device of the present invention can be therefore installed in a limited space and easy to manipulate.
According to the present invention, since transmission members such as a transmission belt and a pulley are not used at all, the device can be further reduced in size and can be operated with a reduced noise. Furthermore, there is no possibility of the occurrence of belt slip and troubles during the operation.
Thus, the tenter arm 1 5 can be rotated smoothly and securely, thereby to improve the fabric side-movement correcting effect and the fabric expanding effect.
Fig. 4 shows another example of how the screw shaft 7 is attached to the support 1 3.
In this example in Fig. 4, one projecting end of the screw shaft 7 is made free, while the other projecting end is pivoted to the support 13 through a shaft 17. Thus, the screw shaft is swingable in a predetermined direction.
!n this example, the screw shaft 7 can be swung according to the rotation of a tenter arm, so that the arm can be rotated more smoothly. Such arrangement advantageously eliminates the use of a link mechanism or the like for smoothly rotating the arm.
Although the description has been made on the actuating and controlling device in accordance with the present invention which is used as a tenter arm rotating and controlling device, the device of the present invention can be widely used as a device for actuating and controlling the correcting member of a travelling web side-movement correcting apparatus which is required to be moved longitudinally, transversely or vertically.
The correcting member mounting portion is not limited to the casing of the reversible motor as described in the embodiment, but any place can be selected as far as the correcting member can be mounted on the screw shaft inserting member directly or indirectly through the rotary bearing.
The present invention is not limited to the preferred embodiment discussed and illustrated hereinbefore by way of example. The present invention can be variously modified by those skilled in the art, and such modifications should be included in the scope of the invention without departing from the attached
