Abstract

Mattresses.-The side rails b of a mattress frame are detachably connected to the end rails a by means of laterallysliding joints, and are retained in position by the tension of the mattress mesh. The mattress shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a combined wire link and spring mesh, the links being connected to the end rail a by springs c<1> at a higher level than the rails b to which the links are hooked, thereby producing a convex mattress surface. The joint consists of a tapered lug b<2> on the side rails which is inserted in a corresponding slot in a casting a<1> on the end of the end rail.
