Abstract

211,368. Reitmayer, K., and Br³nner Geb. Ges. April 6, 1923. Charging. - In distilling or carbonizing wood, blocks of relatively large size are continuously pushed in at one end of an externally heated tubular retort and out of the other end in the form of charcoal. At one end of the retort 1 is a short tube 2 fitted to a plate 6 sliding against a plate 9 secured to the end of the retort a block of wood is laid in the tube 2 which is slid to register with the end of the retort and the wood is then pushed into the retort by a rod 4 thereby moving each piece of wood in the retort and discharging the charcoal into a chamber 13 communicating by a flap valve 15 with a container 14.
