Abstract

The anti-theft device is fixable to the clutch and brake pedals of the vehicle and provides an anti-theft pedal lock which can be adapted to pedals of all thicknesses. The device comprises of two strips of metal 'A' & 'B' 'B' having two oblong holes cut in 'C'. Piece 'A' has two steel blocks welded on 'E', and on top of these, are welded two 'U' shaped brackets 'D' which fit the oblong holes 'C' in piece 'B'. Then two locks 'F & G' should be placed through the brackets 'D' enclosing `H & I' as in Fig. 3. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Pedal clamp Fig. 1 shows three different views of the pedal clamp, and gives all the dimensions for a clamp to fit a mark ii Cortina R.T.M., but can be made to fit any make of car even automatics, motor bikes or push bikes. It is a very simple and efficient yet very tought, anti-theft device, which can easily be fitted within seconds, inside the car.
Fig. 2 is a third angle view of the pedal clamp.
It is made up of two strips of steel, piece 'A' having two steel blocks welded on each end, and on top of them two 'U' shaped brackets 'D'. Piece 'B' has two oblong holes 'C' cut out so that it clamps on top of piece 'A' and 'B' cannot be separated.
Fig. 3 shows the pedal clamp attached to the clutch and brake pedal. The whole point of these strips being inseparable is that, by removing 'G' and using lock 'F' as a hinge this will allow the clamp to open enough to slip piece 'A' behind 'H' and 'I', then closing over piece B then fastening lock 'G' your clutch and brake are then both in the middle of the clamp, making it impossible to press one without the other so the car cannot be moved. The accelerator pedal is shown at 'J'. The reason for not using a hinge is I feel a hardened padlock is more secure, and gives that little extra play than a hinge.
Claims
1. The invention is an anti-theft device for auto mobile vehicles, including private and commercial manually operated vehicles.
2. It can be adapted to fit any size vehicle by undertaking a few simple measurements, thus will ensure the necessary security in fixing the device.
3. The device works on the principal of locking together the brake and clutch pedals, this will ensure that the clutch cannot be operated without the brake or vice-versa. It also has an extended arm on one of the two pieces of metal making up the device, this extention is set to " above the floor of the vehicle, on the clutch side of the device, the object of this being, so that if a person attempts to depress either one of the two pedals the maximum depression he would gain would be ", not enough to drive the vehicle.
New claims or amendments to claimed filed'on 16/3/83 Supersed claims New or amended claims: 1. The pedal clamp is designed specifically with anti-theft protection in mind. The job it does is basically simple. It is not very complexed as shown in the diagrams. It locks around the brake and clutch pedals of the vehicle, secureing them to one another, this means the brake cannot be applied without the clutch or vice versa.
2. It can be made in various different ways, but I feed this way is strongest. It comprises of two strips of metal 'A' s 'B' and these are placed 'A' behind the pedals, and 'B', on top as shown in fig.3.
