Abstract

210,613. Minikin, R. Jan. 19, 1923. Upward - current classifiers. - In a washer of the kind in which an upward current is supplied through a passage 2 below an inclined trough 1, a member having converging sides 8 and rotatable on a shaft 9 is mounted at the upper end of the passage 2 so that the size of the openings 10, 11 can be varied and the part 8<a> presented as a variable obstruction in the trough 1. The heavy material is discharged by means of a vane wheel 13 in association with a baffle 19, the emptied compartments of the wheel being in communication with the water supply through a pipe 17. Baffles 3, 4 are also provided in the passage 2.
