Rackets.-An all-metal tennis racket or the like has a frame and handle formed by bending a single strip of rectangular, flat or equivalent solid section bar to a bow formation and directing and fastening the extremities in parrallel relation to constitute the handle, a metal spacing-piece immovably and permanently attached across the bow at its junction with the handle, and a wire striking-face engaged with apertures in both the bow and the spacing-piece. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, an aluminium strip of rectangular section is bent to form the frame 1 and handle portions 2. The handle portions are connected by bridging-pieces 8, 9 riveted thereto, and the handle is completed by metal channel members 10 and a cap 11, with the addition of an exterior binding. A metal spacing-piece 4 is riveted to the frame and partly supports the striking-face which may consist of a rustless steel or twisted strand wire or of spirally-wound or crinkled wire. Rubber strip or tubing may be threaded through the wire striking-face to deaden the sound of impact. The transverse measurement of the strip 1 decreases towards the head 3 of the racket. The metallic striking-face may be tightened by planishing the frame mechanically or manually. Specification 185,275 is referred to.
