Proving-appliances.- A trough 5 for proving dough is surrounded by heat-insulating material, whereby the process of fermentation may take place at a uniform temperature independently of the surrounding atmosphere. The trough is supported on a metal plate 2 spaced from the bottom of a wood outer casing 1, which is lined throughout with asbestos board 6. The hinged lid 7 is covered by similar insulating material 9 and wood 10, and is provided with beading 8 providing a tight joint when closed. A vent comprising a non-return valve may be provided in the lid or wall of the casing.
