Abstract
A glazed leaf of a folding door consists of stiles 1, with longitudinal slots 2, and top and bottom rails or panels 5, 6 with horizontal slots 7 and with tongues or tennons 4 fitting the slots 2. The glazing 3 is seated in the slots 2, 7, and the entire structure is held together by bolts 8 extending through the stiles into the top and bottom rails or panels. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Improved foldable glassed door
The present invention, whose characteristics will subsequently be described, refers to an improved foldable glassed door.
The creation of this new glassed door model tries to better, above all with respect to an easier and firmer elaboration, conventional foldable glassed doors of the type comprised of an assembly of vertical mullions hinged to one another.
The improvements introduced in the present door mainly affect the setting of the glasses in each mullion, wherefore the own stiles and rails thereof have been provided with the fixing and coupling means for the glasses which are thus directly incorporated when the mullions themselves are made.
The invention is characterised by the fact that each one of the mullions of which it is comprised is constituted of two vertical stiles, the faced edges of which are provided with a slot comprising a housing for the glass which is mounted by sliding along said slots, the jambs of which are fixed in their operative position by the arrangement of rails which limit, at the ends of each mullion, the space for the glass, said rails being provided with the corresponding slot for the coupling of both the glass and the flat pins by means of which they are coupled in the slots of the stiles, which fixing takes place by means of bolts passing through the stiles threaded to the rails.
To complement the aforegoing comments concerning the characteristics of the present invention, there is attached to the present specification a sheet of drawings wherein the following is represented:
Figure 1 represents an isometric perspective view of a mullion, a variable number of which can compose a door of this type, in which the different component elements thereof are illustrated independently and in a position to be mounted.
Figure 2 represents an isometric perspective view of a mullion similar to that, together with its independent elements, illustrated in the preceding figure.
Referring to these figures, there can be seen that each component mullion of the foldable glassed door comprises two parallel vertical stiles 1 which have, along the faced edges thereof, a slot 2, the central part thereof serving as a housing for the edges of the glass 3 and the ends thereof for the flat pins 4 of the upper and lower rails 5 and 6, the inner edges of which are also provided with the corresponding slots 7 for the complete fixing of the edges of the glass. The framing of the mullion, formed of stiles and rails, is consolidated by bolts 8 passing through the stiles threaded to the rails.
As can be seen from the shape and arrangement of the different component parts, the mullions constituting the glassed door of the present invention permit a very rapid and simple elaboration, while a stronger and firmer mullion as well as a fixing of the glass is simultaneously achieved.
CLAIM
1. Improved foldable glassed door, characterised in that each one of the mullions comprising the door is constituted of two vertical stiles, the faced edges of which are provided with a slot constituting the housing for the glass which is mounted by sliding along said slots, the jambs of which are fixed in their operative position by the arrangement of rails which limit, at the ends of each mullion, the space for the glass, said rails being provided with the corresponding slot for the coupling of both the glass and the flat pins, by means of which they are coupled in the slots of the stiles, which fixing takes place by means of bolts passing through the stiles threaded to the rails.
