Abstract
209,742. Aktiebolaget Ferrolegeringar. Jan. 11, 1923, [Convention date]. Alloys.-Chromium and manganese alloys low in carbon and silicon are obtained by reducing chromium ores and manganese ores by means of silicon-chromium and silicon-manganese alloys containing over 10 per cent of silicon and obtained by reducing by means of silicon or silicon alloys of metals such as iron, aluminium, calcium, chromium or manganese, the chromiferous and manganiferous slags resulting from the reduction of the ores. In the reduction of the ore, the ore is in excess, and in the reduction of the slag, the reducing-agent is in excess. The reducing- agent may be applied in solid form to a molten bath of the material to be reduced, or the reduction of the ore may be effected on the surface of a molten iron bath covered with slag.
