Abstract

209,335. Rees, J., and Rees, T. O. March 17, 1923. Jointing tools and apparatus.-In a device for packing condenser tubes &c. of the type comprising a part engaging the condenser tube and a slidable part for guiding the packing, means are provided for holding the slidable part in its retracted position. The device comprises a cylindrical body to which a cut-away tube 11 is secured. A turn of the packing is held at the bottom of the packing recess by the end 33 of the part 11 and the remainder of the packing is wound in by a helical slot 29 in a tube 16 carrying a guide roller 30. The tube 16 slides on the body and is pressed against the condenser plate by a spring 23 contained in a casing 20. The tube 16 can be held in the retracted position by a pin 19 on the body engaging a recess at the end of a slot 17. An end 24, screwed on to the end of the body, is formed to be engaged by a brace.
