Feeding - appliances for animals.-A dry feeder for pigs and similar live stock comprises a metal hopper 9 having sloping bottom plates 11 and disposed above a metal trough 16 preferably of double form, the device being contained within a wooden frame consisting of a base 1, end boards 2, longitudinal bottom rails 3, top rails 4, central rails 5 and side rails 6, the latter rails projecting at each end to form handles for carrying purposes. The lower edges of the plates 11 are spaced apart to form the outlet 12 into which projects a longitudinal rib 18. Cranked rods 13 are also provided in the outlet 12 which are operable by hand externally to regulate the supply of meal &c. and the troughs 16 are of arcuate section to prevent clogging of the corners. To the rails 5 are hinged doors 19 adapted for a lift-up movement by the pig. In a modification the doors are hinged to the rails 6 and are thus adapted for a push-in movement. The hopper has a metal cover 23 and a central transverse partition and the doors 19 may be divided up into sections which are independently operable.
