Abstract
208,688. Kanegafuchi Boseki Kabushiki Kwaisha. Dec. 20, 1922, [Convention date]. Reeling - machines. -Silk filaments are supplied to reeling- machines by means of a smooth metal or porcelain guide secured to a rotary guide tube 1, or, if the guide tube is stationary, to a rotary sleeve surrounding it. The guide comprises a curved arm 4<1> and a spiral 4<2> terminating in a spiral 4<3> or inclined part closely surrounding t h e guide tube 1 and secured thereto at its end 4<4>. A cocoon, with its filament loosened, is dropped near the guide and is drawn towards the tube by the arm 4<1> and ascends the spirals until it engages the end 4<4>, whereupon it rotates with the tube and, being stretched parallel thereto by the spirals, becomes attached to the filaments being reeled. The filament is severed by the tension of the running filaments, and the end is caused to adhere thereto by the rotation of spirals.
