Abstract

208,618. Archer, E. H. Oct. 27, 1922. Packing plywood; bale-tie fasteners.-In packing plywood, veneer, &c., a number of sheets 1 are placed upon one another and pieces 2 are placed so as to protect the corners. The pieces 2 are formed from metal blanks of the form shown in Fig. 6 and are provided with apertures 4 through which metal bands 3 are passed, drawn tightly about the pile, and secured by fasteners 7. In the form of fastener shown in Fig. 2, a strip of metal is cut transversely in four places to form a central rib 8 and two side ribs 9 about which the ends 5, 6 of the bands 3 are disposed. The corner pieces may be bossed or reinforced by metal, fabric, or rubber. Additional pieces 10 between the corners may be employed.
