Opening tops.-Means for connecting a removable upper portion such as a roof portion, to the body of a motor vehicle comprises a spindle d mounted against axial displacement in the upper portion n and having a screwed part e adapted to be screwed into a socket p in the bodv o. As shown, the spindle d is operated through gears g, k by means of a socket wrench &c. inserted into a square hole in the gear k. In place of the gears shown, a worm and worm wheel may be employed. A reduced portion f is provided on the spindle to facilitate engagement.
