Abstract
207,316. Smith, W. Sept. 30, 1922. Kinematograph apparatus, capable of being held in one hand or supported on a table, comprises a casing a<1>, a movable cover b<1> forming, with the casing, a film gate, apertures in the casing and cover enabling the film to be viewed, a reciprocable member c so constructed as to offer frictional resistance to movement, a, claw feed device d mounted on the member c, and handoperated gearing. As shown, the member c comprises a U-piece of spring wire slidable in tongues b, and the claw member d is pivoted thereon. An extension of the member d engages a member g which is loosely mounted on the U-piece and is reciprocated by a ring h eccentrically carried by a disc i. Downward movement of the member g first disengages the claw d from the film f and then imparts downward movement to the U-piece and the claw. Upward movement first brings the claw into engagement with the film and results in an upward feeding movement of the film. The disc i carries a shutter k and is mounted on a spindle driven through bevel gearing by a handle n. A viewing lens or lenses s may be provided, and the apparatus may be held in position by a clamp q engaging flanges r, or by other means.
