Abstract
207,311. Noble, T. R., and Noble, E. Sept. 22, 1922. Mantle carriers; burners, mounting.-An incandescent gas burner comprises a curved metal frame 10 provided with a central opening 12 and having its vertical edges bent over to form U. shaped members 13, which are closed at the lower end by inwardly bent portions and which are adapted to receive a portion 14 of a mantle. A central depending lug 16 on the frame 10 is secured to a lug 17 on a part 18 of a member 11 provided with curved members 19 adapted to embrace a burner 4. The member 11 is provided with a handle portion 20, preferably twisted or bent, and the part 18 is provided with a central cut-away portion 21. The mantle may be protected before use by a layer of rice paper. The burner 4 is provided with two inclined outlet apertures 7 in a plug 6, a foraminated screen 8, a wad 9 of cotton wool or the like for filtering the gas, and a tapered screw-threaded end portion 5, which is screwed, preferably at an angle of 27‹, into the inclined end of an adapter 1 provided with a screw-thread 2 for attachment to a gas supply pipe. The adapter 1 is preferably of external hexagonal shape and may be provided with two holes 23 for the reception of arms of a shade carrier or the like.
