Abstract

A no-bake cake mold for single use in the form of an unfoldable paper polygonal ring having integral flaps 8 foldable to the center to support an insertable polygonal bottom panel which fits within the unfolded ring. The ring is also being structured with a vertical rip flap 6. The mold may be coated internally with a silicone plastic material. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Preparation mold Technical Field This invention relates to culinary equipment and, in particular, is directed to a single purpose cake mold suitable for cakes which need not be baked.
Background Art To date, cake bases are primarily prepared by baking in round cake molds, commonly called "springforms," comprising a round outer ring which is fastened by a clamp about the round insertable bottom.
To facilitate preparation of cake bases or of final cakes, an increasing number of recipes have been developed recently. To this effect, many of the recipes call for mixtures which are combined cold and cooled subsequently in the refrigerator to obtain ready-for-use cake bases or final cakes.
Metal springforms, however, were also required to prepare no-bake cakes. Subject to the cake size, different sizes of springforms were necessary so that a set of springforms had to be kept in stock by the housewife. In addition, prior to their use, the springforms had to be greased, and, thereafter, they had to be cleaned. Bulky springforms are very unsuitable for modern dishwashers.
Thus, there was a need for replacing the metal springforms used hitherto, by simple single purpose cake molds of a reasonable price, which, packed with a ready-for-use mixture could be made available to housewives.
Disclosure of the Invention The above described need has been satisfied with a single purpose cake mold comprising a collapsible polygonal ring with integral flaps foldable to the inside, an insertable polygonal bottom panel which fits into the polygonal ring and a vertical rip flap. Preferably, the inside of the ring and the upper side of the insertable bottom panel are provided with a grease-repellent coating. To this effect, plastics of the silicone type are particularly suited which do not only avoid penetrating of the cake mixture into the ring and bottom panel material, but which, upon the final preparation of the cake, avoid sticking of the cake to the ring and to the bottom panel.
Brief Description of Drawings In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a preferred eightsided embodiment of the collapsible polygonal ring with integral flaps foldable to the center.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bottom panel (eight sided) and the collapsible polygonal ring showing placement of bottom panel within the expanded ring.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the assembled no-bake cake mold illustrating the rip flap.
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention The polygonal ring (2) and the bottom panel (4) may be made of strong paper, thin cardboard or suitable plastics of sufficient rigidity and accepted by the Food Laws. The ring should be collapsible to be flat and to permit its space-saving packing together with the bottom panel.
The vertical rip flap (6) permits one to easily tear open the ring about the final cake (not shown) at a point at which the ring may be easily removed from the cake.
The grease-repellent material of the bottom panel (4) is preferably coated with a silicone plastic which additionally permits an easy removal of the final cake from the bottom panel so that the cake or the pieces of cake can be easily served attractively without showing whether they were prepared in a conventional springform or in the single purpose cake mold of the invention.
Prior to its use, the single purpose cake mold of the invention is assembled in a very simple manner. The integral flaps (8) are folded to the inside to insert the bottom panel (4) into the ring.
Preferably, the flaps (8) are formed such as to ensure that, in erected condition, they laterally abut to be flush, thus contributing to the dimensional stability of the mold. At the same time, the flaps avoid running out (leakage) of the cake mixture which ate first (before setting) is relatively mobile. The term polygonal, in the sense of the instant invention, refers to shapes from the hexagonal to the sixteen-sided form, the octagonal shape (Figs. 1 Er 2) being preferred in practice. As a matter of fact, the segment of a piece of cake from a hexagonal mold is relatively large, while that from a sixteen-sided form is very pointed and small. Cakes prepared in the conventional manner are preferably cut into eight or twelve pieces.The pieces of no-bake cake prepared with the baking mold of the invention have a substantially smooth peripheral surface rather than a round shape, so that they are practically indistinguishable, when cut, from slices of cake prepared in the usual manner with springforms.
Several advantages are obtained with the baking mold of the invention. The foldable feature of the ring permits space-saving packaging of the mold and particularly, permits packaging of the economical mold with a no-bake cake mixture.
The single-use mold eliminates the need for subsequent cleaning and also has the possibility of being an advertisement display medium.
1. A baking mold for single use comprising a collapsible, polygonal ring having integral flaps collapsible to the inside, an insertable polygonal bottom which fits into the polygonal ring and a vertical rip flap.
2. A baking mold according to claim 1, characterized in that the inside is provided with a grease-repellent coating.
3. A baking mold according to claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the grease repellent coating is a silicone plastic material.

1. A baking mold for single use comprising a collapsible, polygonal ring having integral flaps collapsible to the inside, an insertable polygonal bottom which fits into the polygonal ring and a vertical rip flap.
2. A baking mold according to claim 1, characterized in that the inside is provided with a grease-repellent coating.
3. A baking mold according to claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the grease repellent coating is a silicone plastic material.
4. A baking mold according to any one of claims 1 to 3 characterized in that the outside of the polygonal ring is provided with advertising data.
5. A baking mold according to any one of claims 1 to 4 substantially as hereinbefore specifically described with reference to the drawings.
