206,510. Akt.-Ges, Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Nov. 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Joint-making packing. - In a vacuum-tight sleeve insulator for leading electrodes through the walls of metallic vessels, the joints are made with packing proper h, for example asbestos, lead wool or lead cord, combined with a liquid seal f consisting of a viscous substance having a low vapour pressure, for example picene or oil varnish, poured upon the packing. The sealing- liquid is of such a nature that it cannot exude through the pores or interstices of the packing to. reach the actual joint at ordinary working temperatures. Underneath each packing place a gutter m which can be removed for emptying is provided to catch any leakage of the sealing- liquid.
