One side of a low-level w.c. cistern 3 is formed to incorporate a wash basin 4 supplied by a tap 6. The basin may drain into the cistern. A soap recess 8 and towel ring 9 may be provided. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Improvement relating to flush toilets
This invention relates to flush toilets, particularly of the so-called low-level type in which the cistern is mounted adjacent to and just above the toilet bowl.
According to this invention a cistern for a lowlevel flush toilet incorporates a sink and drainer arrangement to enable washing facilities to be readily provided.
Preferably, the cistern is formed such that the sink is integral therewith, for example, near one side of the cistern. Also, a soap dish and towel holder/ring may be provided in or on the cistern.
It will be appreciated that the invention includes within its scope a flush toilet suite comprising a toilet bowl and said cistern and that, when installed, a tap is appropriately located to feed the sink. Conveniently, the feed may be taken from the inlet water pipe to the cistern, and, of course, if desired a hot water tap, or at least a hot water feed may be additionally provided.
The invention has the advantage of readily providing washing facilities, without the need to provide a separate sink unit, thereby reducing to a minimum the amount of installation space and pipework required.
One embodiment of low-level flush toilet suite is shown in the accompanying drawings.
Thus, the suite comprises a toilet bowl 1, toilet lid 2 hinged thereto and a cistern 3, preferably of moulded plastics material. In accordance with this invention, one side of the cistern is formed to incorporate a sink 4 opening into its upper wall surface 5. Although not shown, it will be appreciated that the level of water in the cistern can be controlled to be below the bottom of the sink. This enables water in the sink to be drained into the cistern water, thereby avoiding the need to provide a separate drainage system. In this embodiment a single tap 6 is located over the sink fed from a water pipe 7 tapped at a convenient adjacent location into the water supply to the cistern. To complete the washing facilities a soap dish 8 is formed in the upper wall surface 5 of the cistern and a bracket 6 is mounted at a convenient position for supporting a towel ring 9.
It will be appreciated that the positioning of the sink and its shape can be changed within the scope of the invention.
1. A cistern for a low-level flush toilet incorporating a sink and drainer arrangement.
2. A cistern according to Claim 1 wherein the sink is formed integrally in an upper wall surface thereof, the sink incorporating a drain for draining waste water.
3. A cistern according to Claim 2 wherein the sink is positioned near to one side of the said cistern.
4. A cistern according to Claim 2 or Claim 3, wherein a soap dish is formed integrally in said upper wall surface of the cistern.
5. A cistern according to any one of the preceding Claims, wherein a cold water tap is provided for the sink and is adapted to be fed from the inlet water pipe to the cistern.
6. A cistern constructed and arranged substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
