Abstract

Motor spirit is obtained (1) by mixing 84 litres of methylated spirit, 20 litres of kerosene, 350 grams of sulphuric acid, and 1200 grams of calciumoxide, allowing to stand, and drawing off the liquid, or (2) by mixing 74 litres of methylated spirit, 20 litres of kerosene, and 6 litres of ether; or (3) by mixing 75 litres of methylated spirit, 20 litres of kerosene, and 3 litres p of amyl acetate or 5 litres of acetone. 5-10 per cent of castor oil may be added to lubricate the engine.
