Abstract

A lampholder adapted to support a lampshade includes an electric motor for rotating the lampshade slowly, e.g. at 3 r.p.m., for a decorative effect. A bayonet type socket 11 and a plug 12 connect the lampholder to a lamp and a light socket, and the motor is preferably arranged to also rotate the lamp. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Lampholder The invention relates to a lampholder, more particularly an electrical accessory that is designed to revolve specially designed lampshades.
According to the invention, there is provided a lampholder adapted to support a lampshade and comprising a motor for rotating the lampshade.
A preferred embodiment plugs into a light socket and enables a light bulb to be plugged into it. When the light is switched on the bottom half, being the bulb holder and lampshade clamp, revolves at 3RPM by means of a motor.
The invention will be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: Fig. 1. is a side elevation of a lampholder embodying the invention.
Fig. 2. is a plan of the lampholder.
Fig. 3. is an underneath plan of the lampholder.
The illustrated lampholder 10 is made of white plastic as used for electrical fittings, bulb holders and plugs etc. It has a bayonet socket 11 for a lamp (not shown) and a bayonet plug 12 for connecting the lampholder to a light socket in a 240 volt 5 amp lighting system.
An electric motor (not shown) which is a SYNCHRONOUS 3 RPM motor is fitted with a slip gear as a safety device, and is arranged to turn whatever shade is fitted to it.
1. A lampholder adapted to support a lampshade and comprising a motor for rotating the lampshade.
2. A lampholder as claimed in claim 1 wherein the lampholder has a bayonet socket for the lamp and a bayonet plug for connecting the lampholder to a light socket.
3. A lampholder as claimed in claim 1 or 2 wherein the lampholder rotates the lamp as well as the lampshade.
4. A lampholder as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the speed of rotation is approximately three revolutions per minute.
5. A lampholder as claimed in any preceding claim in combination with a lampshade.
6. A lampholder as claimed in any preceding claim in combination with a lamp.
