Abstract

In a bearing for the cylinder of a printing machine, a cylinder spigot (1) is journalled in a flanged bearing (3) arranged in a bore of the printing machine frame (7). The flanged bearing (3) is slidably mounted on the spigot (1) by means of a bush (2) and by means of a bush (4), provided with a centring collar (5) the width of which is less than the depth of the bore in the frame (7), on frame (7). An adhesive medium (8) is provided between the inside wall (6) of the bore in the frame (7) and the bush (4) on either side of centring collar (5) to compensate for alignment errors and to cement the bush (4) to the frame (7). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Cylinder bearings for printing machines The invention relates to printing machines and particularly to bearings for the cylinders of printing machines.
Cylinder bearings for printing machines are known, in which the cylinder spigots are journalled in bushes which in turn are mounted and screwed to the machine frames (German(Fed. Rep.) Patent specification No. 138956).
The mountings of such bearings have the disadvantage that a compensation of bore alignment errors is not possible because the bearing is predetermined in its position by the screw connection to the machine frame or by the centring of the bearing in the machine frame, consequently an alignment to the bearing spigot cannot be assured.
All errors must be compensated by a sufficiently large running play of the bearing spigot relative to the bearing bush. Too great a running play however leads to printing faults on the printing machine.
According to the invention there is provided a printing machine comprising a frame, a cylinder provided with a spigot, flanged bearing having the cylinder spigot mounted therein, a bush mounting the bearing in a bore in the frame and provided with a centering collar, the axial length of which is less than that of the bore, and an adhesive medium between the inside wall of the bore in the frame and surface portions of the bush adjoining the centering collar.
An embodiment of a bearing for a cylinder of a printing machine will now be particularly described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing showing a fragmentary axial section of a cylinder bearing.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the cylinder bearing comprises a spigot 1 which isjournalled in a sliding bush 2, on which a flanged bearing 3 is mounted. A bush 4, which is provided with a centring collarS, is seated on the flanged bearing 3 and an adhesive medium 8 is arranged between an inside bore wall 6 of a frame 7 and the bush 4. The adhesive medium 8, serves to compensate for bore alignment errors and to cement the bush 4 to the frame 7.
The compensation of bore alignment errors can take place either through the elastic deformation of the flanged bearing 3 or through an adaptation of the surface of the flanged bearing 3 relative to a side 9 of the frame 7. The width of the centring collar 5 is in that case so designed that on compensation it cannot cause any canting in the inside bore wall 6 of the frame 7 relative to the cylinder.
The bearing of this embodiment has the advan tagethata compensation of the bore alignment errors is attained without canting of the bearing spigot in the bearing bush, and this avoids printing faults caused by too great a play in the cylinder bearing.
1. Aprinting machine comprising a frame, a cylinder provided with a spigot, a flanged bearing having the cylinder spigot mounted therein, a bush mounting the bearing in a bore in the frame and provided with a centering collar, the axial length of which is less than that of the bore, and an adhesive medium between the inside wall of the bore in the frame and surface portions of the bush adjoining the centering collar.
2. A printing machine as claimed in claim, wherein a further bush is slidably disposed between the bearing and the cylinder spigot.
3. A printing machine substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
