Abstract

205,412. Pickard, G. Jan. 10, 1923. Ladders. - Step - ladders are provided with a handrail e adapted to slide in sockets f fixed to the top step and through guides fixed lower down to the ladder sides. The guides j are slotted and springs n on the sides of the handrail are adapted to engage these slots to maintain the rail in extended position. For round rails, the guide is provided with a projection l to engage a groove in the rail and prevent rotation, but other section rails may be used and the sockets and guides would then be of similar section to the rail.
