Abstract
205,278. Tynan, C. Aug. 23, 1922. Jointing tubes to flat headers. - Tubular branches 8 of removable cooling elements of a water-cooling radiator are connected to the, main headers 1, 2 by the following means : In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the branches are fitted with loose collars 11 forced against packing- rings 13 by yoke pieces 18 mounted on studs 20. One branch is first inserted deeply into the opening 9 of one header and the opposite branch is then passed into the opening in the other header. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, the lower branch 8 is fitted with a fixed collar 11<1> and the upper branch with a sliding collar 11<11> pressed up by a spring 22. A rod 14 across the lower header 1 forms a stop for the slotted ends 15 of the lower branches.
