Abstract
205,105. Charnaux, L. M. C. Oct. 6, 1922, [Convention date]. Bougies, catheters, sounds and the like for the urethra or the oesophagus are formed with a pointed end arranged eccentric to the axis of the instrument. The point c may be in line with the periphery of the instrument a, and be formed by a flat bevelled surface b', as shown in Fig. 2, or by a convex or concave bevelled surface, or may lie within the periphery of the instrument as shown in Fig. 7. In a modification, Fig. 9, the eccentric point is formed by the insertion of a suitably shaped flexible mandrel e into a hollow soft india-rubber bougie f.
