Stencilling.-In stencilling-apparatus of the type comprising a hinged frame 2 carrying a silk stencil screen 3 through . which colouring material is applied to a card laid on table 1, means are provided whereby different lengths and widths of frame may be used on the same table. Improved methods of attaching the screen to the frame and adjusting the tension of the screen are also described. The frame 2, formed of angle iron bent to rectangular shape, has fixed thereto a bale 8 which is bolted to a bar 7 hinged by butt hinges 6 to a cross-bar 4 extending across the table 1. A number of bolt holes 9<a> is provided in the bar 7 to allow for different widths of frames 2, and the bar 4 is fixed in different longitudinal positions, according to the length of the frame, by bolts 5 passing through holes 5a in angle bars 15 recessed into the sides of the table. The frame 2 is normally held in the raised position by springs attached at one end to arms 10 fixed on the bar 7 and at the other to the legs of the table and is held in the operative position by a latch 13 engaging one of a number of slots 24, Fig. 4, in a keeper 14 adjustably carried by an angle bracket 26 by means of bolts passing through vertical slots in the keeper and horizontal slots in the bracket. The bracket itself is adjustable with regard to the edge of the table by bolts and slots and may be secured in different lateral positions, according to the size of frame in use, owing to the provision of a number of bolt holes 25a, Fig. 2. The edges of the stencil 3 are glued to the wedges 23, Fig. 6, held in channelled plates 22 secured to the frame 2, two of the sides of the frame consisting of movable bars 16 adjustable, to tension the stencil, by screws 17 engaged by nuts 20, springs 21 being provided to retain the nuts against unintentional rotation.
