Abstract
A panel of translucent material contains a grille or mesh of louvre blades. The grille may be formed of sheet, strip, wire or thread material. The transparent material may be tinted or coated with metal. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION P.S.S. (Permanent Sun Shade)
A General "P.S.S." is a composite panel material consisting of a translucent and/or transparent matrix containing a grille, mat, mesh or fabric of opaque variably angled mullion supported separated vertical or horizontal louvre blades of the same substance made opaque or a different substance.
The Louvre blade and mullion grille is also a reinforcement to the composite panel to obviate the need for secondary frames or stiffening devices. The matrix prevents distortion of the solar control louvres by impact, contraction, expansion, bending, oxidisation, corrosion, or abrasion. The composite panel can be used as a permanent building element for solar control screens, windows, or decorative panels.
B The Louvre Grille
The grille, mat, mesh or fabric of separated louvre blades and mullions can be coloured, pitched, sized, snaped and angled to suit a great variety of solar altitudes and any degree of transparency and translucency charateristics required in the composite panel.
The grille, mat, mesh or fabric of separated louvre blades and mullions can be cast, woven, spun, or pressed from any one or combination of the following materials in sheet, strip, wire or thread form: Bronze; Steel; Galvanised steel; Stainless
Steel; Carbon steel; Plastic; Acrylic;
Polyvinylidene Chloride; Glassfibre; Epoxy Resin;
Brass; Copper; Aluminium; Nylon; Rubber;
Vulcanised Rubber; Silicone Rubber; Paper; Card;
Wood substitutes; Ceramic; Laminated Plastics;
PVC monofilament yarns; Asbestos;
Polypropylene; Polyurethane; Corrosion resistant alloys and plastics.
C The Matrix
The Matrix in which the Louvre blade and mullion grille is contained, embedded, cast or laminated is a transparent and/or translucent rigid or flexible material, which can be additionally tinted, self coloured, metal coated laminated with or used separately in conjunction with panels of a different material, made of one or any combination of the following materials:- Glass; Annealed Glass; Plastic; Acrylic;
Polyester; PVC; Resins; Polycarbonate;
Fibreglass; Polythene; of any colour, degree of clarity, strength, thickness, length, Breadth, and texture.
D Uses of Composite Panel "P.S.S." is to be used architecturally in panel form as a solar control screen or window providing protection from solar radiation thus minimising solar gain in buildings.
The gauge, section and material used for the louvre grille, mat, mesh or fabric can be designed and selected to be of such a nature that in conjunction with the appropriate characteristics of the material used for the matrix the composite panel can be shaped or profiled for use as a primary building cladding material.
"P.S.S." can be used singly or in multiples as the external or external and internal panels of double or triple glazing or as a laminate in panels of whatever multiples.
Claim
"P.S.S." is a composite panel material consisting of a translucent and/or transparent matrix containing a grille, mat, mesh or fabric of opaque variably angled mullion supported separated vertical or horizontal louvre blades of the same matrix substance made opaque or a substance different from the matrix substance.
The louvre blade and mullion grille is also a reinforcement to the composite panel to obviate the need for secondary frames or stiffening devices. Yhe matrix also prevents distortion of the louvres and mullions by impact, contraction, expansion, bending, oxidisation, corrosion, or abrasion.
The composite panel can be used as a permanent building element for solar control screens, windows, or decorative panels in all types of buildings.
