Abstract

Transformers.-In electric apparatus of the type in which an insulating liquid contained in a tank is liable to be vaporized by the passage of a static discharge or interruption of a circuit therein, one or more inverted chambers containing air or inert gas are removably secured to the sides of the tank, communicating with the liquid therein, to provide a cushion when pressure develops. The chambers may be made of insulating material or of metal with an insulating covering, and may be of various shapes, for example, rectangular or cylindrical for fitting adjacent to the sides or corners of a rectangular tank, or annular or segmental for cylindrical tanks.
