Abstract

204,837. Headley, F. H. Aug. 17, 1922. Push-bars.- Relates to collapsable or semi-collapsable perambulators &c. having a handle supported for use at either end of the vehicle by one and the same jointed stretcher bar connect.- ing the handle to the frame and adapted to be broken .in order to fold the handle down on to the frame. The handle is detachably secured at either end of the frame so that its only connection thereto during transference from one end to the other consists of the stretcher bar. The U-shaped handle 7, connected to the frame by the stretcher bars 10, is formed at its ends with apertures to engage headed studs 9 at either end of the frame 1, the handle being retained in engagement with the studs by strips 12 pivoted at 11<a> to the handle and formed with a key-hole slot 13 the smaller part of which is adapted to engage an annular groove 10<a> in the studs. The movement of the strips 12 is limited by a. slot and projection device 16, 17. When the handle is used at the seat end of the vehicle as shown, studs 13 on the handle engage slots at the upper ends of the members 4 of the, collapsable seat structure so that the handle and seart structure may be collapsed at the same time. When the handle used at the other end of the vehicle it is collapsed independently of the seat structure. The handle may be fitted with a brake as described in Specification 202,772, [Class 103 (i), Brakes &c.], so that the brake acts on a wheel at the end of the vehicle at which the handle is mounted.
